Not a sausage going out to Plymouth apart from the odd gannet and a shearwater that was probably Manx. Seas were choppy and every white horse seemed to be a dolphin leaping. Things improved on the return journey to Santander a few days later though.
For a couple of hours early morning from 4 to 2 hours out of Santander I saw 6 pods of dolphins at around twenty minutes between each sighting. Of the animals I could positively identify all were Short-beaked common, Delphinus delphis.
Slightly closer views show the pale grey part of the hourglass shape towards the tail.
