Work has started to clear a landslide that has blocked part of the Cares gorge this last month or so. Constant and heavy rain through April caused the rockfall at the Cain end of the popular walk.
Experts have tested the stability of the surrounding rock and will be building a walkway of 2.5m x 23m to cross the area. The whole route should be open for July. Meanwhile it's still possible to walk in some 7km's from the Poncebos end.

UPDATE 4.7.2012: The Cares Gorge is now fully open.
